Title: A Compilation of Active Galactic Nuclei in the MOONRISE Fields
Abstract: The Multi-Object Optical and Near Infra-red Spectrograph (MOONS) is a next-generation instrument to be installed at the Very Large Telescope (VLT). The MOONS GTO extragalactic survey, MOONRISE, will observe around 500,000 galaxies across 3 fields. An outstanding question of galaxy evolution is the effect of active galactic nuclei (AGN) on star formation in galaxies and the capabilities of MOONS to collect near-infrared spectra is of particular use for investigating the Universe at the peak of cosmic star formation (z ≈ 2). We aim to produce the most comprehensive multiwavelength catalogue of AGN available which will serve as a complete as possible sample of targets for MOONS. AGN show features across the full electromagnetic spectrum and so can be detected and selected across all wavelengths and there is considerable work creating and improving such criteria. In the MOONRISE AGN target sample X-ray, optical, IR and radio features have been used to select AGN as well as selection based on SED fitting. Through cross-matching selected AGN with multiwavelength catalogues we assemble a catalogue of around 35,000 AGN across the 3 MOONRISE fields.
