The social programme includes the conference dinner at a landmark location in Sintra, on Tuesday, and an organised Sintra Afternoon, on Wednesday, providing opportunities for informal social interactions among conference participants and some sightseeing of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Conference Dinner (Tuesday evening)
The Conference Dinner will take place on Tuesday evening at the Central Palace Hotel (which is actually not one…), located in the historic center, directly across from the Royal Palace. There, you will experience traditional Portuguese cuisine with a touch of history.
During the dinner you will also enjoy other aspects of Portuguese culture.
Sightseeing in Sintra: Park and Palace of Monserrate and Cabo da Roca
Wednesday afternoon is reserved for sightseeing. We will take you on a guided tour of the Park and Palace of Monserrate, an “exotic dream of a visionary” and one of Sintra’s most iconic landmarks, located just a short ride from the conference venue.
Afterwards, we’ll head to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, to watch the sunset. It will be a moment to reflect on what lies beyond the edge of the continent… or, perhaps, beyond the edge of the Universe.
