Title: The Euclid deep fields: rationale, design, expectations
Abstract: The main goal of the recently launched Euclid mission is to cover a wide area of the extragalactic sky, the Euclid Wide Survey [EWS] covering roughly 14,000 sq deg, to acquire data for its primary cosmological probes. However, there are also three deep fields and other auxiliary fields that will be repeatedly observed for calibration purposes and characterisation of the EWS samples. These fields will cover a unique spot in the area x depth space, enabling the exploitation of many more science topics. This talk presents a detailed and updated overview of these fields, including choices and constraints, the expected progression of their depths and planned external complementary observations.
